SUGARCANE raw bar grill, a Miami-based celeb hotspot with a Las Vegas outpost, is launching its first New York location on Monday.
The upscale eatery — favored by Jennifer Lopez, Tyson Beckford, and the Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade — is opening at 55 Water St. in Dumbo — right by Cecconi’s (another Miami import) on the Brooklyn waterfront.
The 9,000-square-foot space seats 200 people and there is also a 2,000-square-foot outdoor patio that seats 100 people. Although not as unobstructed as Cecconi’s, Sugarcane will still boast views of the East River and downtown Manhattan skyline.
The Chef, Timon Balloo, focuses on a “globally inspired” menu from three kitchens: an open fire grill, a raw bar and a traditional kitchen.
Signature dishes include bacon-wrapped dates, goat cheese croquettes, Korean-style grilled beef short ribs and Hokkaido scallop crudos, along with specialty sushi rolls and New York-specific offerings that are still being finalized.
Cocktails will feature a Beet Mojito, a Monteflor Mule, with Flor de Caña white rum, Amaro Montenegro, ginger beer, marasca cherry syrup and fresh thyme; and a Tobacco Rum Old Fashioned with Mount Gay Black Barrel, maple, Angostura bitters and homemade cigar bitters.
